GAA Portugal began in 2017 with a goal: give Lisbon a team capable of carrying Portugal into European Gaelic games.
Lisbon Celtiberos became far more than a team. It is a place to improve fitness, learn a new sport, practise languages and build friendships in a new city. Irish experience is welcome, but never required—most members join for the people and discover the game along the way.

Three regional titles.
Lisbon Celtiberos won the men’s Andalucía–Portugal competition in 2022 and 2023, then added the 2024 regional championship—an exceptional rise after entering the competition.

Adult training takes place at Oeiras International School in Barcarena, close to Caxias station. Sessions are adapted for different ages, experience and fitness levels.

No. Beginners are actively encouraged, and sessions are adapted to different experience and fitness levels.
Do I need to be Irish or speak Portuguese?
No. Members come from nearly 30 countries. The club is international, welcoming and an easy place to practise both English and Portuguese.
What should I bring on Saturday?
Comfortable sportswear, runners or football boots, and water. Contact the club if you want to try hurling so equipment can be arranged.
Can children join?
Yes. The new junior section welcomes boys and girls aged 5–12. Check Instagram or email the club for the next junior session and registration details.
